What
to Expect
Fun
and lots of it! That, to me, is just as important as the gear
I shoot with or the location I shoot at. Having fun is critical
to bringing out the true personality and character of the
person or persons I am trying to shoot. You can expect to
be very active at my shoots, allowing me to capture you, or
your family, in a number of different and spontaneous activities.
I will shoot literally hundreds of pictures in hopes of catching
the true essence of your character or that of your family.
Don't worry, I will never ask you to do anything that makes
you feel silly or uncomfortable. Honestly, I'd never ask you
to do something that I wouldn't do myself first. As a matter
of fact, I may turn the camera over to you and let you take
a shot of me doing the pose or activity I am asking for, just
to show you what I am trying to get out of the shot. So, you
can rest assured that you will have a great time and I will
be just as involved in the activity of creating the look and
feel of the shoot as you, and your family, are.
What
to Wear
What
you wear to the photo shoot plays a key role in how your pictures
turn out. Typically, portraits look best in muted colors such
as light blue or green, white, tan or black. Wearing either
a nice dress, khaki pants or jeans is always a great choice.
Keep it simple and comfortable. Go for jeans if you would
like a really casual look to your shots. You don't have to
dress in one color, just colors that complement each other.
Black shirts always look really nice with jeans or khaki's.
Most women look best with a 3/4 length or long sleeves. Please,
whatever you do, stay away from sleeveless shirts and T-shirts
with logos on them. It is better to keep the focus on you
and your smile then on distracting clothing.
What's
in my Bag
Right
now I am carrying Canon's newest pro-sumer digital SLR camera,
the EOS 40D. This 10 megapixel camera carries the new DIGIC
III processor and offers the flexibility and controls that
I need to ensure I get the shot I want. Feel free to check
out the latest review on this camera over at Photo.net.
As for lenses, which are key to capturing that perfect image,
I am using Tamron's AF 28-70mm f/2.8 Standard Zoom
Lens for full body, action and nature shots. For portrait
shots, primarily head shots, I am using Canon's EF 85 mm f/1.8 and Canon's EF 50mm f/1.8
II lenses which offer unbeatable image quality and depth-of-field on each
shot. For wide-angle shots I am using a professional series lens, Canon's EF 17-40mm f/4L lens. For long range and telephoto shots I am using another pro-series lens, Canon's 70-200mm f/4L telephoto lens. For indoor lighting I am using Canon's 430EX Speedlite
Flash with a Sto-Fen OMEW Omni-Bounce Diffuser mounted over
the bulb to guarantee even dispersement of the strobe light.
I carry multiple 2 gb compact flash cards
to ensure that I have plenty of shoots available to capture
that ever so elusive great shot.
